Description :
A water flow meter is an instrument capable of measuring the amount of water passing through a pipe. An Electromagnetic flow meter is a volumetric meter which does not have any moving parts and is ideal for waste water applications or any dirty liquid which is conductive or water-based. In this flow meter, a magnetic field is generated channeled into the liquid flowing through the pipe. Flow of a conductive liquid through the magnetic field will cause a voltage signal to be sensed by electrodes located on the flow tube walls.
Advantages :
1. Minimum obstruction in the flow path yields minimum pressure drop.
2. It can measure forward as well as reserve flow with equal accuracy.
3. Low maintenance cost because of no moving parts.
4. Corrosive or slurry fluid flow.
Disadvantages :
Requires electrical conductivity of fluid.
Applications :
1. Pipelines
2. Refineries
